CHF 11S Central Hydraulic Fluid · 1 L
The green can. CHF 11S is the long-life synthetic hydraulic fluid that European central hydraulics were designed around — power steering, level control, shocks, convertible tops.
The first fill
Engine oil, transmission fluid and the famous green can of CHF 11S. Technical fluids blended the Hamburg way since 1927 — specified by the people who built the car, poured by the people who keep it running.
Founded in Hamburg, Germany — a fluid works that grew up alongside the European car industry it supplies.
Pentosin fluids carry formal OE approvals and ride in new gearboxes and reservoirs before the cars ever meet an owner.
Each formulation is blended for a specific engine, gearbox or hydraulic design. The spec on your cap decides — not marketing.
The shelves
Before you pour
The designation printed on the reservoir cap or in the handbook — CHF 11S, FFL-2, ATF 134, dexos1 Gen 3 — outranks any viscosity number. Find that word first.
Every product page here states the Pentosin part number and the spec it answers. Same letters, same numbers — close enough does not exist in this room.
Between services an engine or reservoir drinks the fluid it already holds. The one-litre cans exist for exactly that. The longer course lives in first-fill basics.
Reached-for first
The green can. CHF 11S is the long-life synthetic hydraulic fluid that European central hydraulics were designed around — power steering, level control, shocks, convertible tops.
The whole DSG service in one box: five litres of first-fill-approved FFL-2 double-clutch fluid plus the parts to do the job properly.
The workhorse of the Pentosin oil shelf — a fully synthetic, fuel-economy 5W-30 developed for the most recent generation of European engines, in the five-litre jug that covers a whole service.
ATF 134 is the red fluid for select Mercedes-Benz five- and seven-speed automatics — an ultra-high-performance ATF with the right friction manners for those gearboxes.
The Pentosin take on the dexos1 Gen 3 specification — a 5W-30 for modern turbocharged direct-injection gasoline engines, in the full-service five-litre jug.
Pentofluid EHF is the high-performance hydraulic fluid for European power steering and central hydraulic systems — and the approved top-off companion to the CHF cans.
The program
Pentosin runs its range the way a lab runs a shelf: by designation. Open a line below to see every can we keep of it.
The ledger
Service books speak in part numbers. If yours names one of these, the link lands on its can.
From the service logs
★★★★★ Makes my Car PurrSmooth as silk in my Alpina.
★★★★★ Buy the Best for your BMW!Maybe a little more expensive but, it is worth it! Love Pentosin products! Use it in both my 2013 BMW 328i X-Drive (F30) & 2011 BMW 528i (F10).
★★★★★ Works awesomeUsed on a 2017 vw cc with 90,000 miles. Previous owner never changed trans fluid. Had a noise in 3rd gear and 6th gear. After replacing fluid and filter, noises went away and shifts perfectly now. Highly recommend.
★★★★★ Very good productVery good motor oil for European cars, my Audi runs very quiet and increased fuel mileage. This product is worth buying again
★★★★★ Cost effective QualityArrived on time. Compatible and recommended for use with certain Mercedes vehicles. Quality fluid that performs that performs very well in my Sprinter. So far, this product is the best value I can find
★★★★★ Great value kit and high quality fluidWorks perfectly for servicing a 2013 VW Golf TDI. DSG shifts much smoother after servicing. Filled using filter housing and waiting a long time for the fluid to slowly go down the filter port. Faster process would be…
The long read
«First fill» is the industry's term for the fluid a vehicle is born with — poured on the assembly line, matched to the hardware by the engineers who designed it. Deutsche Pentosin-Werke has been earning that position since 1927 in Hamburg, and the modern range still reads like an OE service book: the Pento and Pentospeed motor oils, the FFL double-clutch program, the numbered ATF family, and the central hydraulic fluids that made the name a parts-counter shorthand.
The practical consequence: when a Pentosin can matches your designation, you are not choosing an aftermarket substitute — you are repeating the factory's own choice. OE approvals from the calibre of BMW, Mercedes-Benz, the Volkswagen Group, Porsche, ZF and Getrag are the paper trail behind that sentence.
A grade like 5W-30 only describes how an oil flows cold and hot. Two 5W-30s can carry entirely different approvals, and the approval — the designation your handbook prints — is the part that was tested against your hardware. Shop in this order: designation first, viscosity second, price last. Every product page here leads with the designation and the Pentosin part number so the match takes seconds, not forum threads.
CHF 11S is a long-life synthetic central hydraulic fluid rated for lifetime application — power steering, self-levelling suspension, shock absorbers, central locking, convertible tops — with full performance from −40 °C. European reservoir caps have named it for decades, which is why «the green can» works as a part number at most counters. Keep one litre on the shelf; a low reservoir becomes a two-minute fix instead of a flush.
The five-litre jugs on this wall are full-service volumes — a drain-and-fill for most passenger cars, whether that is oil or ATF. The one-litre cans are trunk cans: the same chemistry, sized for level corrections between services. The habit worth keeping is to top off with the fluid already in the system — same designation, same can family — because «compatible-ish» is how smooth gearboxes and quiet steering racks stop being either. When in doubt, the sequence never changes: handbook, designation, part number, pour.
Asked at the counter
It is more: a central hydraulic fluid rated for lifetime fill in power steering, self-levelling suspension, shocks, central locking and convertible tops. If the reservoir cap names CHF 11S, the green can is the answer; a generic «power steering fluid» is not.
Yes — the EHF label states it is mixable with CHF 11S and CHF 202 as a top-off. That makes EHF the sensible can to keep for level corrections without a flush.
A performance category written for modern turbocharged direct-injection gasoline engines. Its signature demand is LSPI protection — resistance to low-speed pre-ignition. Pentospeed dexos1 Gen 3 is the Pentosin blend built to it.
Because double-clutch shift feel is a friction calibration, and each FFL formulation is tuned to one gearbox family. The label says it outright. FFL-2 for the DSG service, FFL-3 and FFL-52529 for theirs — never swapped, never blended.
Five litres is a full drain-and-fill on most passenger cars; one litre is the trunk can for top-offs between services. The habit that pays: service from the jug, correct the level from the litre of the same fluid.
